FIRST GREAT TEACHER SEMINAR IN MALAYSIA A SUCCESS!

In conjunction with SCIENCE CASTLE in MALAYSIA 2018, Leave a Nest Malaysia conducted the first GREAT TEACHER SEMINAR in Malaysia on 18th March 2018.

The seminar is the new initiative created by Leave a Nest Malaysia to provide necessary support to great teachers in Malaysia in the development of global young leaders. This time, we have great speakers from Japan and Malaysia sharing their experience and knowledge in the respective area of nurturing students, especially in Science and Technology.

 

HIGHLIGHT OF SEMINAR

1st Presentation: “Will NEST EDUCATION complement STEAM Education Trend?” by Dr. Kihoko Tokue, Managing Director Leave a Nest Singapore Pte.Ltd.

Summary: Through this presentation, participants were introduced to the new way of educating young generation through NEST education. NEST education is the acronym stand for Nature, Engineering, Science and Technology. Leave a Nest put emphasises on Nature as it is the most fundamental component of our life that need to be preserved by using knowledge of  Engineering, Science and Technology.

 

2nd Presentation: “Applying QPMI CYCLE to initiate Research-Based Project” by Ms Nami Akinaga, Managing Director, Leave a Nest Malaysia Sdn.Bhd.

Summary: QPMI Cycle is the conceptual flow of initiating new innovation and invention created by Leave a Nest. Through this presentation, the teachers can utilise this knowledge to dig up and encourage students to come up with their unique question and passion as the base of initiating a research-based project in the school.

 

3rd Presentation: “Science-Based Camp” by ISSJ Team(Mr.Kinugawa, Mr.Cher, Mr Gaku Nagashima

Summary: We have a special sharing session from International School of Science Japan Founding Project about their Project SwingBy and International Science Camp. ISSJ offer great opportunities for Malaysian students to go beyond Malaysia and network with global young leaders from 26 countries.

 
 

4th Presentation:“Redesigning Classroom with  Interactive Technology” by Assoc.Prof. Dr. Wan Zuhainis Saad.

Summary: One of the most interesting sessions where the participants got their chances to do interactive activities during the presentation where Dr.Wan asked all participants to try applications which she is using for her classroom learning process. From the experience, teachers could utilise the interactive technology to encourage students to be more interested in the subject they are taking especially for Science and Technology subjects.

 

Panel Discussion: GREAT TEACHER:”Revealing the Unsung Heroes” 

Summary: Last but not least, we had our panel discussion, discussing the characteristics of a “GREAT TEACHER”. Two students from SBPI Gombak became panellist and shared regarding their opinion and experience of being developed by GREAT TEACHERS in their schools.

 

Besides GREAT TEACHER SEMINAR, we conducted concurrent workshops for students. The student had their experience to observe microcosm under the microscope facilitated by young researchers from the faculty of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences.

 

My Conceptual Robotics Sdn.Bhd (MyCRO), our silver partner also conducted their 3D Printer workshop. Student enjoyed learning the structures of 3D printer, how to run the 3D printer and make their own 3D printed keychain.

Leave a Nest would like to thank the platinum partner (International School of Science Japan Foundation), Silver partner (My Conceptual Robotics Sdn.Bhd.), teachers and participants who joined this GREAT TEACHER SEMINAR and make it a successful program.

We hope all the teachers who have participated in this seminar could apply all the knowledge that they acquired to continue nurturing students in their schools with full of passion and inspiration.

Abdul Hakim Sahidi is a Malaysian and lived in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He received diploma in Electrical (electronic) engineering from University of Technology,Malaysia and the a B.A in Electronic System Engineering from Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology. Currently working as Strategy Development Assistant Manager at Leave A Nest Malaysia. His professional passion is in business and had being involved with business since he was study in university. He also experienced in project management and involved with many societies during his study.
